About Bidar

Bidar is a historic city. The history goes back to Mahabaharata period when it was known as Vidur Nagar. Kakatiya kings started building a fort here which was redesigned by Maratha kings. The present fort was built by Baridshahi and Bahamani dynasties. There are many holy places like, Shri Narasimha Zarani, Guru Nanak Jhira and Papanash Mandir. Bidar has a social importance, since it is the Karm Bhoomi of Lord Basaveshwara who brought a social revolution in 12th century. Bidar is well connected by Road/Rail/Air. The nearest air port is Hyderabad at a distance of 120 k.m. There is frequent Government/Private Bus service from Hyderabad, Gulbarga and Bangalore.

Our Society

Karnataka Rashtriya Education Society (KRES) was established in 1942. It has the distinction of starting first Kannada medium school in Bidar. It is the leading education society of the northern tip of the Karnataka. Presently there are 26 educational institutions being run by the society. The society is presently headed by Dr. Chanbasappa Halhalli, a Rajyotsava Award recipient and a person who is relentlessly working to raise educational standards and eradicate the tag of backwardness attached to this area.

Our College

Beginning its journey in the year 1970 with the lone faculty of Commerce, today it caters to the needs of 1800 students. It has three faculties (Arts, Science and Commerce) and 22 Departments. The college has been undertaking many UGC sponsored major/minor research projects by different faculties. It also facilitates the faculty members for guiding M.Phil. and PhD scholars. The UGC has recognized our college as the “College with Potential for Excellence (CPE)”.

Our Department

The Department of Computer Science was established in the year 1986. It offers BSc. (Computer Science), BCA and PGDCA courses. It has undertaken major research projects sponsored by UGC and published many research papers pertaining to Image processing /Pattern Recognition/ Document image analysis /Medical image analysis in peer reviewed National/ International Journals and conferences.
